Since its establishment in 1592, Trinity College Dublin has expanded over the centuries to become a modern university with an enviable history. Trinity today continues to be at the cutting-edge of teaching, research, technology and innovation placing the university at the forefront of higher education in Ireland and internationally — our outstanding performance in international rankings is testament to this achievement.
Situated at the very heart of Dublin, one of Europe’s liveliest cities and recently designated ‘UNESCO City of Literature’, Trinity’s city-centre location means it enjoys strong links with the cultural heart of Dublin. Home to the ‘Book of Kells’ over half a million people annually visit Trinity to see this national treasure.
With over 16,700 students representing in excess of 90 different nationalities Trinity College offers its students a truly diverse, cosmopolitan and international experience. Trinity students have close access to all the city’s amenities. These include theatres, cinemas, a wide range of shops and the centre of Dublin’s nightlife is only a short stroll away.
Technologically advanced libraries, laboratories and IT facilities have been seamlessly integrated into the historic campus. A state-of-the-art anoscience complex and the world’s first Science Gallery sit alongside atmospheric leafy quads, traditional cobbled squares and a world famous library.
With three large faculties offering over 400 academic programmes, at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, students have a wide range of course options in the arts, business, economics, humanities, social sciences, engineering, mathematics, sciences, medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, and a range of other health science programmes.
The College provides a complete daytime environment with dining halls, cafeterias and a bar as well as a varied social life sustained by over 150 student societies and a sports centre and associated sports clubs. Some of our social highlights include the Traffic Light Ball held during Freshers Week and the most famous of them all, the Trinity Ball, Europe’s largest private party held in April on the campus.
Trinity College invites you to be part of our great tradition.
