Universities are committed to playing their part in expanding the supply of purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA). The challenge of providing affordable accommodation is a serious wider societal concern, affecting students and young people across the country. Addressing it effectively will require coordinated action and innovative funding approaches that balance affordability for students with the financial realities of developing and maintaining new accommodation.
The IUA and our universities are committed to working in partnership with Government and all other stakeholders, including to explore innovative delivery models which bridge the affordability–viability gap and ensure that high-quality, affordable student accommodation can be delivered across Ireland, for the benefit of our student population. That is the context in which we will examine and engage on today’s proposals.
