Lia O’Sullivan is the Communications and Projects manager of the Irish Universities Association. She is responsible for managing IUA’s external and internal Communications, Marketing and Events, combining the roles of Public Relations Officer, Marketing Manager, Website Developer, Event Manager, Client liaison and Project Manager. She also provides executive support to the CEO and is secretary to the IUA Council.

Lia convenes the IUA Communications Directors Group and provides marketing advice and practical assistance to many university groups including International, Librarians and Access.

She is currently a member of the Irish Survey of Student Engagement (ISSE) Communications Working Group, Campus Engage Communications and Engaged Research Working Groups and the DARE HEAR National Policy Group. Previous memberships include the ESOF Media and Marketing Committee.

Prior to IUA Lia was Partner Relations and Events Manager at MIT’s Media Lab Europe.  Lia joined Media Lab Europe from Shannon Communications Group Ltd, which includes Purple Moon Productions, a broad based Communications, PR and Video Production Company where she was Account Manager and Senior Partner.

Lia is an accomplished video producer with a portfolio of high quality broadcast standard productions for corporate clients including Aer Lingus, Waterford Crystal, Irish Life, Meteor Mobile, AXA Insurance. She was the Executive Producer and Programme Producer for 6 years for Ireland’s only Business Satellite Television Network for Irish Life and Permanent as well as being Inflight Television producer for 8 years for Aer Lingus, the Irish national airline. Lia began her professional career with Bill O’Herlihy Communications Group as an account manager and producer.

Lia holds a BA (Hons.) in Media Studies from the University of Ulster at Coleraine, a Graduate Diploma (First Class Honours)  in Public Relations and a certificate in Social Media from the PRII. She is a member of the Public Relations Institute of Ireland.
