IUA welcomes HEA Report confirming further improvement in progression rates for higher education students in 2019/20

The IUA welcomes the HEA Report that confirms a further improvement in progression rates for higher education students in 2019/20.

While the overall non-progression rate is 9%, we note that it is lower still at just under 7% on average for the member universities of the IUA. This compares extremely well globally and is testament to the quality of our students and the dedication of the staff in our universities, particularly over the last two years which have been without precedent in terms of the challenges posed to students and staff. The progression rates for those students entering higher education through DARE and HEAR are particularly encouraging, and demonstrate how universities and other colleges successfully work to reduce the disadvantages that these students have previously faced.

Our universities will continue to seek improvements in the years ahead, particularly in certain disciplines where non-progression rates are higher.

Ends.
