IUA welcomes HEA announcement of funding to support Irish participation in the European University alliances

04.02.22: The IUA and its member universities welcome the Higher Education Authority’s announcement today of funding to support Irish participation in the European University alliances.

The European University Alliances are a flagship EU initiative to build the European Education Area and encourage greater cooperation across Europe in teaching, research and innovation. University students and staff will benefit from increased mobility and sharing across programmes and campuses, leading to greater levels of inclusion, societal engagement, innovation and excellence.

Lewis Purser, IUA Director of Learning, Teaching &  Academic Affairs, noted: “Today’s announcement is a very significant step, which will allow the seven participating Irish universities play leading roles in their respective alliances with a broad range of university partners across Europe. These alliances are key to strengthening Ireland’s university system, improving opportunities for students and researchers. They will be important gateways to further exciting developments in teaching and learning, research and innovation for our country.”
