Widening Participation

The Irish universities fully support the objectives of the National Plan for Equity of Access to Higher Education (see http://www.hea.ie/access), with a focus on those groups which have traditionally been under-represented in Irish higher education.

The strategic plans of each university have specific targets to widen participation for each of these national target groups, and the Irish universities – along with a number of partner colleges – have developed a range of initiatives to meet this objective, including the Disability Access Route to Education (DARE) and Higher Education Access Route (HEAR) supplementary admission routes.

Please see the following pages for further information regarding specific initiatives of the Irish universities in this area.
