Participate Programme WORKSHOP for UCC Educators, UCC Thursday, 28 April 2016

UCC Educators – Accredit Students for Solving Real World Problems.
Workshop –
hursday, 28 April 2016 from 10:00 to 13:00, Council Room, Main Quadrangle, UCC

UCC, Campus Engage and Science Foundation Ireland have come together to offer higher education staff a workshop on how to incorporate accredited communitybased learning and research into any curriculum.

Community-based learning/research is a form of experiential education with a community/public engagement underpinning. Students gain academic credit for a project or piece of research they derive from engaging with a community organisation. This allows students to explore ‘real life’ problem solving, their future role as a professional, and how they can contribute to address Irish, EU, and international social challenges.

Kick start workshops are delivered in collaboration with community partners Age Action Ireland, Enable Ireland, the Centre for Universal Design, Saint John of Gods, and others. This workshop showcases examples of successful Irish student accredited projects including client-led web apps for children with disabilities, to new product development for older people, and road safety. *Please note this event is open to a number of Irish universities with very limited places so book online now by clicking Attend Event!

Target audience: academic staff from social, life and natural sciences; humanities; engineering & technology; academic staff, and management.
