Focus: The focus of this event is to inform researchers about the opportunities available to them via the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (part of the EU’s Horizon 2020 programme(1)). The emphasis is on cross-border collaborations between researchers in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. This event will feature a number of case studies from researchers from academia and industry, North and South, who have worked together via the Actions. The event will ensure guests leave the session with a solid understanding of the Actions and what is involved for those who participate.
Keynote Speaker: Dr. Alan Craig, Head of Team, European Commission Research Executive Agency.
About the MSCA: The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions are a European Commission Funding Programme which supports researchers at all stages of their careers, across all research disciplines and in all employment sectors. The Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions ensure excellent and innovative research training as well as attractive career development and knowledge-exchange opportunities through cross-border and cross-sector mobility of researchers, to better prepare them for current and future societal challenges. They also aim to reinforce cooperation between industry and academia in terms of research training, career development and knowledge transfer. The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions are a key part of Horizon 2020, the successor to the 7th Framework Programme, which will run from 2014 until 2020. Whether you are an Individual Researcher looking for a fellowship, a Principal Investigator seeking to build a European research network, or any organisation looking to develop their research capacity, there is a Marie Curie Action for you.
About the organisers: This event is being organised by the Horizon 2020 Northern Ireland Contact Point based at Queen’s University Belfast in collaboration with the Irish Marie Skłodowska-Curie Office at the Irish Universities Association, and is kindly sponsored by InterTradeIreland.
