Practical Information

Students from outside the European Union (EU) apply directly to their chosen university. Such applicants should contact the Admissions Office or International Office of the relevant university for information on the application process, as each university has their own application procedures and closing dates.

Visa Information

If you are coming to study in Ireland from outside the EU/EEA, you may require a visa to come and study in Ireland.  You can check the Irish Immigration services website to see whether or not you require a visa to come to Ireland for your study programme.

If you do require a visa, information on how to apply, and what documents are required, can be found on the Irish Immigration Services website. The application process takes place online and a full overview of how to use the online portal is available here. Depending on your circumstances, you may need to liaise with the Irish Embassy or Consulate for your country during the visa process. Visit Ireland’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade website for these details.

Important: Apply for your visa well in advance and allow six to eight weeks for your application to be processed if you are applying from abroad. Please consult the Department of Justice for Information on what is required to complete their visa application.

Entry Requirements

Entry requirements will vary between different universities and degree programmes so it is best to contact the international office of your chosen university to find out what grades you will need for your course.

While all 8 university have similar application procedures, for detailed information on how to apply to your chosen university click on one of the university logos below.

Accommodation & Cost of Living

Organising accommodation before you depart for Ireland is essential. As there is a lot of competition for accommodation, it is important to start your search as early as possible.  Some universities may pre-book accommodation for you, or you might need to organise this yourself. If you are unable to secure accommodation in your host university, or would simply prefer to live off-campus, we would recommend checking out the Accommodation Guide of the Irish Council for International Students (ICOS).
