The Irish Universities Association (IUA) represents, promotes and provides support services for the seven Irish Universities. The IUA is a non-profit making body with charitable status.
The IUA is expanding its operations and now invites applications for the position of International Education Manager. Based at the IUA offices on Merrion Square, the person appointed will report to the IUA Director of Academic Affairs and work closely with the IUA International Officers Group. The purpose of this appointment is to lead the development and implementation of a sectoral strategy for the expansion of international education, encompassing the seven universities. The role will require domestic and international travel.
This is a 2 year fixed term contract. A secondment arrangement will be facilitated where possible.
Overview of the role
Working in conjunction with the University International Offices and relevant senior management, the job will include:
- Market research, goal setting and delivery on the strategy through the development of relationships with national and international stakeholders and clients.
- Identifying opportunities and constraints, taking account of the collaborative/competitive environment within which the universities operate;
- Conducting research on the Irish universities’ own and their competitors’ international education activities;
- Developing and marketing an Irish Universities international brand;
- Facilitating cooperation among the universities’ international staff in effective implementation of the strategy devised;
Profile of Candidate:
This is an exciting opportunity to make a distinctive contribution to an area which is of increasing strategic importance to the universities. The most critical qualities for this role are:
- Significant experience in international education
- Results focused and a self-starter with excellent interpersonal and negotiating skills
- Effective and persuasive communicator; ability to communicate well with and build consensus among senior university managers and other stakeholders
- A Capacity for strategic thinking and hands-on delivery.
- In-depth knowledge of Irish Universities and the higher education sector on an international scale
- Excellent Project management, marketing and PR skills
Remuneration
A competitive salary commensurate with experience will be offered.
