The office is playing a key role in the dissemination of information on the Third Country Directive Scheme and continues to work directly with the Department of Justice and Enterprise (DETE) to progress the Directive. DETE, following consultation with the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform, the Department of Education and Science and the IUA are currently finalising a standard format for hosting agreements for researchers which can then be issued to registered institutions.
Ireland has already formally opted into the Directive which must be transposed by 12 October 2007. The Directive provides for a fast track procedure for admitting Researchers who are third-country nationals for more than three months to carry out a research project with an accredited research institution. They will not require a separate work permit.
If you wish to know more about this directive or if you require assistance with Work Permits and Visas please contact me via the helpdesk mobility@iua.ie or telephone 016764948.
