The Centre for Women in Science and Engineering Research invites you to our conference

From Surviving to Thriving: Women in Science

Enjoy an exciting and thought-provoking day of information and debate; understand some of the causes leading to women’s under-representation in science disciplines meet scientists from around the country; and hear the personal stories from women who are thriving in science.

The aims of the WiSER Conference

  • To raise awareness of the causes of women’s under-representation in academic science,  engineering and technology (SET) in Ireland
  • To learn about the successful Irish initiatives that are having a positive impact on the working environment of female scientists
  • To celebrate the talent that is present in SET and put female scientists in the spotlight
  • To learn from experience:  to offer an open and frank discussion from women working at all levels of academic SET. These discussions will be about the particular challenges and experiences faced by women in SET whose careers are often more circuitous than their male counterparts, and frequently include career gaps for child-rearing or other caring responsibilities.

The WiSER conference will be of interest to all working in science, engineering and technology areas, decision and policy makers, educationalists, and gender specialists
