RESEARCH EVALUATION, METRICS & OPEN ACCESS IN THE HUMANITIES
September 18-20 2008
Trinity College Dublin
WORKSHOP INVITE:
From 18 to the 20 September 2008 a workshop will be held at Trinity College Dublin on current developments in Arts and Humanities research assessment and the increased importance of metrical indicators and open access policies for the Arts and Humanities sector. These issues are of vital importance for the future shape and impact of research in the Arts and Humanities.
The workshop is organised by the Coimbra-Group Task Force Culture, Arts and Humanities, in conjunction with the Long Room Hub, TCD and the consortium Humanities Serving Irish Society. The Coimbra-Group is a consortium of long-established and research-intensive European universities of which Trinity College is a member.
The organisers hope that the workshop will help the Irish University sector as well as the Coimbra-Group and its member universities to formulate a position and contribute to ongoing debates.
The attached document ‘workshop programme’ outlines the workshop’s objectives and provides details about the two-day programme.
Colleagues who would like to participate are requested to fill in the on-line registration form to be found here http://www.coimbra-group.eu/20_Coimbra_Group_seminars.php. Registrations will be handled by the Coimbra Group office. For queries please e-mail Anna Quici in the Brussels office: quici@coimbra-group.eu
The registration fee of € 190.00 must be paid in advance to the Coimbra Group Office account (all bank details are on the registration form). This fee includes all meals, tea and coffee and the banquet dinner on the last evening. The registration is only valid once the fee has been received.
A number of rooms have been reserved for workshop participants on the TCD campus in Dublin city centre and in a hotel nearby, and participants can book their accomodation on-line via the following link: http://www.tcd.ie/accomodation/Visitors. Once the reserved contingent of rooms is exhausted, intending delegates can still register for the conference, but will have to find accomodation in Dublin hotels by themselves. http://www.visitdublin.com/accommodation/dublin.aspx
Early booking is strongly advised, as the weekend 19-21 September is a busy sporting weekend in Dublin. Registrations for the conference close on 10 September 2008.
