ACA Annual Conference 2008

Beyond 2010: European Higher Education in the Next Decade

Tallinn, 15-17 June 2008

This year, the Academic Cooperation Association (ACA) will hold its Annual Conference in Tallinn, the charming capital of Estonia. Beyond 2010: European Higher Education in the Next Decade will be one of the most important European higher education events of the year. A conference not to be missed. Hosted by and co-organised with Estonia’s Archimedes Foundation, it will attract some 300 practitioners and policy-makers from Europe and elsewhere in the world.

What will happen in European higher education after the magic year 2010? Will the Bologna Process continue, and if so, which direction will it take? Will the Lisbon Strategy remain the centerpiece of EU education, research and innovation policies? Or will new priorities emerge, and which? These are only some of the questions this international conference will address. More in detail, the event will look into the future role of academic mobility, it will investigate ways of financing internationalisation and higher education as a whole, it will probe the issue of access, inclusive of alternative learning paths and transnational education, and it will seek to explore future language policies of European higher education institutions.

Once again, ACA has been able to enlist many highly renowned speakers for its central annual event. Among them are David Coyne (European Commission), Marijk van der Wende (OECD/IMHE President), Ulrich Teichler (INCHER), Peter Scott (ACA), Jan Sadlak (UNESCO) and Catharine Stimpson (New York University), to name only a few.
